The Faralda NDSM Crane Hotel Amsterdam is an exceptional addition to the wide variety of hotels in Europe.
A monumental harbour crane has been transformed into a hotel.
It consists of three, 36 sq.m, split level suites, created within the framework of the original crane construction.
The suites have a commanding view,
overlooking the Port of Amsterdam.
The extraordinary woman Faralda is the inspiration for the hotel. Faralda stands for a sensual , still unknown Dutch beauty, independent and successful, living in the 50’s.
Thanks to her ambitious and determined character, she realized the impossible in the former far east colonies.
The 3 totaly different suites represent her attitude and invite you to share her
mystic past, hidden secrets and free spirit......
The architecture formed the base for the new interior design at the ground floor of this project.
The new kitchen is part of the living room. This new design does not only communicate with the architectural structure but also invites to communicate and enjoy time together. The curtains in the house are customized en unique. The bubbles curtains at the front side of the house are knitted and avoid to look in, but not to look out.
At the backside of the house and the first floor, an already existing material unusual for curtains was used, because it remembers the clients on former happy times. The house is bright en feels warm, the pure material choice together with the extraordinary fabrics make a comfortable and individual home.
